hydrant typology

DESCRIPTION: I created a typology (a collection of similar elements) on water hydrants found throughout the city. By tracking all of the different designs of this artifact, I was given greater understanding of its subject matter through the similarities and differences of the members of the set. By photographing each hydrant at different angles, I was able to capture the different moods and sides of each water hydrants personalities. Not only was each image interesting, but when placed side by side with other members of its race it gave a new force of power to each hydrant, comparing and contrasting one another. I then constructed an accordion book to display these photos.
